According to her death certificate, Martha was born on Sept. 11, 1878, in Temperanceville, Ohio, to Elizabeth McCort and George C. Hains. Martha was a housewife; her husband Virgil E. Grimes Sr. preceded her in death. Martha lived in rural Slater, Missouri, for 70 years.
Martha’s cause of death was chronic myocarditis with cardiac failure. She was buried on March 20, 1961, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, Missouri.
