James M. Weldon died Jan. 21, 1942, in Gilman City, Missouri. He was 78.
According to his death certificate, James was born on Oct. 12, 1863, in rural Gilman City — the community he lived in all his life — to William W. Weldon and Mary Highbaugh, both born in Louisville, Kentucky. James was a merchant and worked in the coal and feed industries. He was married to Fannie Weldon.
James’s cause of death was heart failure due to pneumonia. He was buried on Jan. 23, 1942, at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Gilman City.
