John Thompson Witten was born on Sept. 27, 1820, in Tazewell, Virginia. He married Lucy Ann Kalkener Peery in 1840. He married Caroline Virginia on Aug. 4, 1842, in Tazewell, Virginia. Caroline died in 1866 in Grundy County, Missouri. He married Evaline Watkins Fulkerson on Sept. 26, 1878, in Edinburg, Missouri. John died on June 29, 1888, in Grundy County, Missouri, and is buried there.
